Why would anyone need to paint a magnet?
Can neodymium magnets be painted? What sort of paint should be used? What type of preparation assures good paint adhesion for the nickel plated surface of your neodymium magnet? Will paint affect the effectiveness of a magnet?
In this posting, the folks at K&J break out some spray paint to attempt to answer these questions.
Why would anyone need to paint a magnet?
We hear all kinds of reasons. Let,s list several here:
1.Defense against the weather: Nickel plating isn't waterproof, so painting can be a good solution for magnets used outdoors.
2.To cover, disguise or camouflage the magnets: Neodymium magnets are often used to display artwork, in homes and free galleries. If your magnet is painted the colour from the work, it's going to excel less than a shiny silver magnet.
3. Decoration: Included in various artistic or craft works.
