Neodymium magnet, also known as neodymium iron boron magnet, is currently the most common type of strong magnetic material on the market. It is prepared by certain processes from rare earth element neodymium, transition metal iron, and non-metallic element boron. Neodymium magnets have physical properties such as high residual magnetism, coercivity, and magnetic field strength, low electrical resistivity, low temperature coefficient, good corrosion resistance, high mechanical strength, good toughness, and strong plasticity. These characteristics make neodymium magnets widely used in multiple fields.
In the electronics industry, neodymium iron boron magnets are mainly used as high-frequency transformers for electroacoustic motors, speaker drivers, and switches in telecommunications equipment. In the field of computer technology, it is used as a drive motor for hard drives and high-speed rotating components inside control disks, as well as as as an electrostatic elimination device in copiers. However, neodymium magnets also have some drawbacks. Firstly, its production cost is relatively high, resulting in higher prices. Secondly, although neodymium magnets have high hardness, their brittleness is also strong. If subjected to strong collisions or magnetic field interference, they may cause fracture or magnetic attenuation. In addition, although neodymium magnets themselves have chemical stability, they may still undergo oxidation reactions when exposed to humid or high-temperature environments, leading to a decrease or loss of magnetism.
